Katelyn in the Car (5 months)

I can't believe I forgot to add this to my last post - Okay, trumpets ready. Fanfare, please: Katelyn has stopped crying in the car! This actually happened on a magical Tuesday last week. For those of you who don't know, Katelyn has hated her carseat and riding in the car. She would pretty much cry 95% of the time for at least 10 minutes to as much as 40 minutes. Sometimes, she would fall asleep for a few minutes, and Jeff and I would say, "At last, we're lucky to get a reprieve!" But she would usually wake up and start crying again after only a few minutes of snoozing.

Last Tuesday, however, I packed her in her seat to go pick up Melissa from school, and Kyle and I were both amazed that she didn't cry the whole way over. Sorry, Ken and Lynda, apparently she wanted to cry the whole weekend you were here before she gave it up - maybe she wanted to make sure the weekend was memorable for you! :o) Anyway, on top of that, I took Kyle to his Tumbling class at the YMCA and decided to try Katelyn in the daycare center again. I had given up on it about six weeks ago because she always cried and they had to come and get me after 15 minutes or so. But miraculously, I kept my eyes peeled on the gym doorways, and no one came with my squalling baby! Kyle, however, had to come "just for a hug" twice before he would return to his class! So by the time we went to pick up Katey, she was there for almost a whole hour, happily sitting on one of the watcher's laps chewing on her toy! Whoohoo! Stellar week for Mom!

Katelyn can roll herself all around the room now. It was so convenient to lay her on the floor while I checked my e-mail really quick since I knew she couldn't get very far. But now, I really have to be right near her while she's rolling around everywhere on the floor. She only rolls to her right, by the way, both ways, so at least I can start her on one side of the room and know roughly where she'll end up.
